About
Art Educator | Researcher | Artist
I believe in the transformative power of art to nurture connection, care, and community. As an educator, researcher, and artist, my work centers on creating spaces where people feel valued, inspired, and empowered to use art as a tool for self-expression and relational growth.
With a Ph.D. in Art Education from the University of Georgia and over a decade of experience in K-12, higher education, and community-based settings, I have had the privilege of working with learners from diverse backgrounds- teaching in Title I schools in Georgia, international classrooms in Turkey, Peru, and Japan, and mentoring future educators at the university level. My teaching philosophy is rooted in care and inclusivity, drawing from Nel Noddings' ethics of care to cultivate learning environments where students can explore their interests, engage critically with their communities, and develop as creative thinkers.
Beyond the classroom, my research and artistic practice investigate how artmaking nurtures relationships, well-being, and a sense of belonging in both formal and informal learning environments. Using methodologies such as video ethnography and place-based pedagogy, I explore how collaborative art experiences nurture care and social connection. My experiences as the Director of an early childhood day school further shaped my commitment to equitable education, faculty mentorship, and curriculum development that honors diverse voices.
As an artist, I am drawn to processes that explore storytelling, place, and memory. My creative work often intersects with my research, reflecting themes of connection, identity, the natural world, and the ways in which artmaking can bridge personal and communal narratives.
This website is a space where I share my artmaking, research, and creative projects, along with insights on art education, community engagement, and the ways in which art connects us all. Whether you’re an educator, student, researcher, artist, or someone passionate about the arts, I invite you to explore, connect, and join me in the conversation.
